One for the serious collector here as this wine is incredibly rare. UNlike many of the neighbouring vineyards, Ausone survived the very deep frosts of 1956 without losing vines. They still produced a smaller quantity than usual, but in this vintage the only other Grand cru Classe A, Cheval Blanc, did not produce any wine, meaning this is indisputably the top wine from St Emilion in 56. This has been stored in a private cellar since purchase until recently being moved to our temperature and humidity controlled storage unit. The label on this bottle is a little dirty and has a slight tear at the top, the level is lower than the other one I am currently offering - please see the photos.
Following extensive research I believe the four bottles that will be sold here are the only ones available anywhere in the world for retail. Any suggested records from the internet have been looked into and are for vey old listings that no longer exist.
