Well preserved bottle of this legendary Champagne - 19/20 from Jancis as recently as 2019.
This is one of 3 bottles I'm selling (you'll find a DP '51 and a Taittinger CDC '53 in separate auctions) from a collection that was bought back to the UK from the Sates in 1950s by an industrious steward in the QE2 capitalising on the incredibly favourable exchange rate at the time.
Full disclosure: I've not tried any bottles from the collection yet, as I usually like to do before listing on BFW. so on this occasion I can't offer you any comfort about the contents. Obviously, these are VERY ancient bottles, but the level on this one is super - I've tilted the bottle in pics 3 & 4 so you can see how far I had to go before the level appeared below the foil.
Always tricky to access colour through glass, but this bottle and the DP are the lightest in colour and look to be clear. Certainly the wine colour is lighter than the pics make it seem. The discolouring around the foil is in fact old sellotape that's gone brown, but I don't dare it pull off.
