A rare bottle of legendary Chateau Cheval Blanc from the highly collectible 1947 vintage.
This is a highly unctuous and unusual wine for Bordeaux with tremendous longevivity and port-like attributes.
The bottle is in satisfactory condition given the age with a high shoulder fill level, however the bottom of the cork has seen some notable shrinkage (the upper section appears to be in better better condition).
The label is in good and readable condition with soiling/discolouration and some scuffs, there is a possibility that the bottle has been relabeled during its lifetime.
The Capsule is firmly attached, yet with considerable corrosion (see images) - however, the Cheval Blanc stamp of the period on the capsule is still easily recognisable (see close ups under magnifying glass).
The bottom of the glass bottle shows typical Bordeaux bottle finishing hallmarks of the 1940s/50s, the shape of the bottle is rather slightly conical than entirely straight.
Due to the age of the bottle it is possible that despite careful packaging some seepage might occur in transit.
