3 Pouilly Fuissé Vers Pouilly Ch de Beauregard 2015
Drinking 2019–2023. There’s something special about Vers Pouilly, which lies in Fuiss´e but on the border with Pouilly. It is the marnes, a clay soil with a high limestone content, which produces fine-flavoured yet powerful wines. Rich, dense palate and great aromatic complexity.
3 Pouilly Fuissé Hommage à Léonard Chandon Ch du Clos 2015
Drinking 2019–2023. From the oldest vines of the Clos, the most ancient planted in 1936, others in the 1950s, this is even richer and more powerful than the Pouilly above. It is big, muscular and well proportioned. The clay soils and thick-skinned grapes contribute structure and a high dry extract for a long life.
3 Santenay Blanc Les Bras François D’Allaines 2015
Drinking 2018–2022. This superb wine comes from Franc¸ois’ own domaine and yielded just 35hl/ha. Rich, ripe and lightly buttery. 20% new barrels give this a hint of oak and despite the relatively long barrel ageing, 18 months, it remains discreet.
3 St-Aubin Sur Gamay François D’Allaines 2015
Drinking 2018–2022. Always one of the stars of the cellar, this has such potential that it gets 18 months in barrel. There is an evident sophistication and elegance about St-Aubin that puts it very close in style and quality to a good Puligny village. Elegant and floral on the nose, it has a fine creamy palate. Its lovely balance beckons another glass.
