Description

description of Argiano's Brunello di Montalcino

Argiano's Brunello di Montalcino is a classic and traditional version of this great Tuscan wine. A pure Sangiovese that perfectly expresses the best characteristics of the territory of Sant’Angelo in Colle, in the south-west area of the famous Montalcino hill. An elegant, intense and mature red, which is aged for 24 months in cask, reaching a pleasant expressive harmony, capable of combining the fruity profile of Sangiovese with refined tertiary evolutions. It is a classy red, to be tasted during a special dinner to accompany roasted red meats, a Florentine steak or game.

Brunello di Montalcino wine is the result of the selection of the best Sangiovese grapes of the estate, which covers a total of 125 hectares, of which a good half are vineyards. The Argiano vineyards are located at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level, in an area characterized by significant temperature changes and protected from disturbances by the proximity of Monte Amiata. The breezes that rise from the Maremma, help to mitigate the climate and to preserve the healthy grapes, which ripen slowly, with particularly intense aromatic kits. The careful and very respectful vinification of the raw material allows the production cycle to be closed while preserving the expressive integrity of the fruit. This is how a Brunello is born, not only of excellent quality, but also capable of telling the tradition of a wine and a territory among the most loved of our peninsula in the glass.

Argiano's red Brunello di Montalcino is made with fermentation in steel vats at a controlled temperature. The wine ages for the first year in French oak barriques and tonneau and for the second year in large Slavonian oak barrels. After aging in wood, the wine rests in concrete tanks until bottling. In the glass it has a rather dark ruby red color. The bouquet expresses refined aromas of cherry, small red berried fruits, spicy nuances and slightly toasted hints. The sip is intense and complex, with a deep length, which turns from the fruit towards notes of tertiary evolution. The tannins are dense and silky, the finish is fresh and very persistent.
