A LEGENDARY WINE & EXTREMELY RARE VINTAGE.
The first commercially available vintage following the rebirth of the legendary Vin De Constance sweet wine from Klein Constantia, in the Constantia wine-region of South Africa.
Inherited from the cellar of a former MD of Corney & Barrow, this wine has been in underground cellar storage since original acquisition. Very good levels, and good condition labelling etc. The wax-seal on the neck/top shows some minor dents and chips, as would be expected for age, but with no cork exposure.
Botrytis affected Muscat-De-Frontignan grapes, picked late in the harvest season, ensuring absolute ripeness and concentration of natural grape-sugars; briefly matured in French Oak barrels.
Constantia was one of the most famous and expensive sweet wines in the 18th and 19th centuries, enjoyed by Napoloen, amongst others. An extremely long-lived wine, this is listed with a drinking window to 2030.
This wine is not widely available; the most recent availability on listed on Winesearcher was in 2015, at a value of £495.
