1 bottle of this flagship wine from one of the most prestigious Rioja producers, who is well known for its traditional style of Rioja and for using only American oak to mature the wine prior to bottling.
Bottle is in excellent condition with fill level up to the neck. Purchased recently from a private collection where it was kept in a cellar since release.
Tastingbook.com recommends 2hrs decanting time, and drinking window between 2020-2035.
'In 1890, 5 families from the north of Spain, each passionate about wines, established the Sociedad Vinícola de La Rioja Alta - The Wine Society of the Rioja Alta. A few years later, in 1904, one of these founding-members proposed the merger of his Ardanza winery with the society and thus the creation of La Rioja Alta S.A.
The "904" range is today one of LRA's flagship wines, released only in exceptional years.
This wine is from the 1995 vintage, a blend of old-vine Tempranillo (90%) with Graciano (10%) which has been matured for 4 years in American oak barrels.' Wineauctioneer
'Looks quite mature too! This bodega has a policy of late release – good for them. Rich and traditional on the nose. This will bring back many a memory!
