Description

The Prum name has been synonomous with quality wine production in the middle Mosel for generations. The family has been cultivating vineyards and producing wine in this region since 1156.This winery was established in 1911.
This wine has probably got an element of noble rot (botrytis) in it,because 1971 is considered the greatest vintage in living memory in the Mosel.
Robert Parker awarded the vintage 98 Points,a score that has never since been achieved in Germany.

"About 5 years ago,I had an S.A.Prum Spatlese 1971 at The Wine Cellar at Rio in Las Vegas. They were pouring it by the glass. It was incredibly lively, and a testament to the ageability of Riesling wines in excellent vintages".

Brad Ballinger. (2/6/2009)

This wine is now a great rarity and I cannot find a bottle of the 1971 vintage currently retailing on WineSearcher. However,a bottle of the 1969 vintage (a lesser vintage) is now retailing at approx. £285 (incl.VAT) per bottle.

The bottle was shipped by F.& E.May Ltd.London WC2.
