Overview

Chateau Tayac's vineyards cover an area of 37 hectares, on the gravelly soils around Soussans.

Chateau Tayac' has been under the ownership of the Portet family for 4 generations. Guy Portet uses the Methode Cousini, a system of observation and analysis to maintain optimum vineyard health with minimal treatments. It is a holistic technique, involving the biochemical mapping of soils and the analysis of the leaves and trunks of the vines, to intervene as little as possible whilst working to rebalance the biodiversity and composition of the soil, improving the health of the vines, and strengthening their natural defences against diseases and pests. Nicolas Portet is the winemaker and the wine style is harmonious and well-balanced allowing the excellent quality of the fruit to shine through.

Fermented in a mix of cement and stainless steel tanks and aged for 10-12 months in French oak barrels, of which 35% are new. The assemblage is typically 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot.
