Description

There is a limited production of just 235 cases of this wine.The Roennfeldt Road wines are the flagship cuvees of the Greenock Creek winery,and because Robert Parker,year in,year out in the mid nineties to early 2000s awarded the wines with the maximum 100 points,it has now achieved cult status.At the time,the legendary Chris Ringland was the winemaker.He has since moved on to his own ventures.


Robert Parker's wine tasting notes are as follows:-

"What one gets from Greenock Creek is the uncompromised brilliance of Mother Nature as expressed in the Barossa vineyards.The perfect Cabernet Sauvignon Roennfeldt Road is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon,made from a 60-year-old vineyard that spent 3 years in neutral French oak.It possesses the concentration of the greatest classics ever produced in such Bordeaux vintages as 1945,1947,1959,1961,and 1982.It is an amazing aromatic expression of creme de cassis.It is a massive full-bodied red that lasts well over 60 seconds.For its size and concentration,it is surprisingly not heavy.This Cabernet Sauvignon needs 2-3 more years of cellaring,and should drink well for two decades.Unfortunately quantities are extremely limited for these spectacular world-class Australian reds.I can not think of any other winery that produces so many wines at such a high level of quality.Yes,they are full-flavored,intense reds that represent the antithesis of European offerings,but even someone like me (an admitted Francophile) can't help but see the beauty,extraordinary individuality,and compelling distinctiveness of these great efforts from Greenock Creek".
