Description

Here we have an incredible treasure offered in time-warp condition.

"The greatest [port] vintage of the century" according to Michael Broadbent, who awarded Graham's '48 5/5.

Only two reviews on Cellar-Tracker; 100/100 in 2014, and 97/100 in 2010.

Cheapest on Wine-Searcher £875 (£1053 with the duty and dreaded VAT). Offered here with NO RESERVE. Grab yourself a bargain for one of the greatest ports in history!

The bottle was unearthed in an underground cellar in Yorkshire (I am unsure whether wine matures better in God's own country). Due to the dark colour of the glass, it's tricky to show the level, but it's well into the neck. Quite remarkable for a wine tickling 70.

The capsule is solid and intact; label still well attached albeit with a wrinkle to the left hand side.

To give an idea as to how well this has been stored, I've pictured it next to a '48 Grand Puy Lacoste from the same cellar, where you can clearly see the remarkable level. The port is similar (NB: this auction is for the PORT ONLY. The pic of the GPL is for reference only)

A very special offering. Good luck!
