Description

Here we have two 37.5 bottles from the magnificent 1953 Vintage. Forget the scores from celebrated wine critics, here's my personal taste note. I recently secured seven of these, two of which had low shoulder levels, badly damaged capsules and exposed corks, so I decided to open them and have a taste of the oldest Bordeaux I have ever tried! (See pictures) First taste... ok just old claret, after an hour.. very good, after two hours... well just magnificent!... and these were the poor bottles! So I now have three cellared to enjoy perhaps at Christmas and two here for someone else to savour and allow me to recover some of my costs! You will not be disappointed.

And here's the professional version.. with average prices (of a 750ml)!

Note; his bottle was 'bricking in colour', these two are deep and luscious without the 'brown edges' seen in older clarets.

Tasting note: This bottle was more than fully mature, with serious brickng in its color. Better on the complex nose, with its truffle, stone, plum, earth, smoke, cigar box and cola scents than on the palate. While the texture is pure softness, coupled with the patina of age, the fruit is fading, leaving you with soft, earthy plums and cherries. Drink up if you are lucky enough to have a bottle.
