Description

An unusual find in the cellar of an old West Sussex house.
Covered in some 55 years of dust and general crud - ACS - Aladdin's Cave Syndrome - kicked in, and certainly provoked a thump in this wine man's heart..."Raider of the Lost Ark" etc.

The 1961 vintage marks a watershed in the history of Bordeaux wines, rather like pre and post war and these three good bottles from the remarkable '61 feature excellent levels which are very good for bottles now over 60 years old at Base of Neck or Very Top Shoulder.

The labels are all complete - see photos - but obviously a bit stained over the years.

The capsules are complete and none shows any signs of seepage.

Just to confuse everyone, there are TWO Tour du Pin Figeacs adjacent to one another one owned by the Giroud family and this one owned and run by the Moueix family.

The 9 hectares on the limit of St Emilion and Pomerol with mainly gravel and sand subsoil are planted with 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec.
