Description

Level very top shoulder, label pretty good, but problems with the capsule/cork. I've tried to photograph the top of the capsule carefully and hopefully you can see the cork has been pushed in a little (about 3mm) and consequently the wax seal has been pushed through.

There's some residue here, but I think it's the inside of the wax rather than the contents of the bottle, as it rubs off on one's fingers without leaving a stain, and doesn't smell winey at all. The bottle has been stored on it's side, so I'm pretty sure it's not leaking or the level would be much worse. I've set the auction with no reserve to reflect this.

"Still firm ruby and lots of fruit and interest. So full of life I wondered when served it blind whether it was as old as the seventies. Croft were at their peak then under Robin Reid and it shows in this vigorous wine. It would have tasted even better in glasses bigger than the Buckingham Palace port glasses, handsomely engraved though they are!"
