Description

There are three lots, each consisting of one bottle of the 1976 Chateau Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, commonly called Ch Pichon Lalande, a second growth Bordeaux from the commune of Pauillac.

The bottles have been stored its entire life in a traditional, cool, dark cellar; removed from said cellar in mid March 2012. All three bottles are in excellent condition: labels are very slightly faded but otherwise in perfect condition, fills are into neck, foil and capsule intact, no visible signs of seepage or crusting on foils.

I have opened one bottle from this parcel and it is drinking superbly now, showing its maturity and pedigree - bell peppers, cedar and cigarbox on the nose; fleshy, rounded red fruits on the palate, fresh acidity still with a touch of spice; in all, very balanced and expressive.

An excellent opportunity to try a second growth Bordeaux at its full maturity, at possibly a fraction of the cost of its current vintage.
