Description

A mature bottle of 1976 Château Brane-Cantenac, one of the historic classified estates of Margaux, Bordeaux. Brane-Cantenac was ranked a Second Growth (Deuxième Grand Cru Classé) in the famous 1855 Classification, making this an appealing bottle for collectors of mature classed-growth Bordeaux.
The 1976 vintage is now 50 years old, giving this bottle plenty of interest both as a drinking proposition and as a birth-year/anniversary bottle. At this age, if the wine has been well stored and the cork has held, expect a fully mature Margaux character rather than youthful fruit: dried blackcurrant and red fruits, cedar, tobacco, leather, forest floor and earthy notes, potentially with the floral, perfumed character traditionally associated with Margaux.
Condition: The bottle has an impressively high fill level for its age, sitting around the base of neck/high shoulder area, which is encouraging for a 1976 bottle. Capsule appears intact. The original label is heavily aged and worn and has been taped back onto the bottle, as clearly shown in the photographs. This is reflected in the presentation and should be taken into consideration by bidders. Bottle is sold as seen, with no guarantee as to drinkability due to its age.
