Description

A really fine bottle of this 40 year old 3rd Growth with an excellent level at just in the neck, a complete level and good sound capsule & cork.

Stimulating incense and smoke aromas, with spicy peppers, cinnamon, and cherries. Saturating in the mouth. Intense expression with elegant Margaux-like fruit. Long finish. My WOTN.

Decanted - cork was soaked 9/10 through, still solid and came out in one piece with an ah-so. Gorgeous garnet with lots of browning to a clear rim. Classic la Lagune nose of black raspberry, cassis, cigar box and sous bois with a bit of mushroomy funk thrown in. Nice bright acidity, black raspberry, cassis, cigarbox, earthy, clean compost note and still present talc-like tannin. Paired with parsley and herb pesto coated roast chicken and cheese course of mimolette and camembert. Gained a touch of weight with about an hour of air; gorgeous 40 year old bottle.
