I bought two bottles off the wine list at a small Wisconsin supper club, priced at $90! They had purchased them upon release. I popped the bottles, decanted them and poured them back in the bottle, so no additional aeration time. Fill levels were excellent, one fully into the neck and the other a very top shoulder fill. Dark red with only a little browning. Classic flavors and nose of aged Cabernet Sauvignon. Nose of cedar with leather and a little smoke. The flavors were red berries - cassis and a bit of raspberry, along with some meat notes. Overall a mid-weight wine but very pleasant. Fully mature without much likelihood of improvement, but good bottles will still be drinking very well.

Top shoulder fill. Decanted at 5:10 PM, re-bottled at 5:30 PM, served at 7:30 PM. Clear blood-garnet color. Wonderful bouquet of red currant liqueur, forest floor, dried porcini mushrooms, and cigar box. Jabe11 said "seasoned wood" and I completely agree. Pleasantly tart, medium bodied, dry finish. Better than a previous bottle from the same cellar. That is not to say the wine is still improving; it has been fully mature for over a decade and may be starting to fade. Some of this wine was surprisingly intact 24 hours later under vacuum stopper.

Dinner with Saxon (Chez V): Decanted at 9pm when the Latour ran out. Big smokey black fruit nose with hints of tobacco, licorice, and tar. More mature than the Latour, but more complex to me. A hint of oxidation, but still plenty of pure, sweet fruit. Drink up, but enjoy!
