Robert Parker-Wine Advocate #183 90 points

RP notes. Other than Chateau Margaux , Palmer is the strongest wine in what was the weakest appelation of the vintage. Keep in mind that today the classified growth Margaux estates are all producing fine wine...but when the 82 was conceived most of the properties made mediocre wine. Palmer, which showed very loose structure and lacking concentration as well as tannin when it was first tasted, has firmed up and put on some weight. It possesses a deep garnet color to the rim along with plenty of sweet black fruit, charcoal, herb and licorice characteristics, medium to full bodied, flavourful and surprisingly well endowed, it should drink nicely for another 10-15 years. 2009-2024
