Wine Advocate #183
Jun 2009 Robert M. Parker, Jr. 93 Drink: 2009 - 2017
A strong effort for this estate, the 1982 exhibits sweet aromas of plums, licorice, earth, and flowers. The tannins are slightly rustic, but the sweetness of the fruit, the broad expansive mouthfeel, and the wine’s full maturity represent a classic Bordeaux at the top of its game. Enjoy it over the next 5-8 years.

Bordeaux Book, 4th Edition
Jan 2003 Robert M. Parker, Jr. 91 Drink: 2003 - 2012
A consistently elegant wine with Branaire’s tell-tale smoky, raspberry, blueberry, currant, and mineral perfume, this medium-bodied Branaire has always exhibited considerable suppleness, a dense ruby color that has begun to show some lightening at the rim, excellent balance, sweet chocolatey, currant-infused flavors, and a long finish with more fat than any vintage of Branaire I have tasted. 9/02.

Wine Advocate #129
Jun 2000 Robert M. Parker, Jr. 90
This is an elegant 1982, with blueberry, raspberry, mineral, and spicy oak aromas in the moderately intense, polite bouquet. The color is a healthy dark ruby with no lightening or amber. The wine exhibits firmness in the mouth as well as good flesh, a sweet, ripe entry, medium body, and impressive elegance and length. Not a blockbuster such as Gruaud-Larose, Leoville-Las-Cases, Leoville-Barton, and Leoville-Poyferre, this youthful, vibrant 1982 is a model of symmetry and finesse.

Wine Spectator
A big, traditional-style red. Ruby-garnet in color, with chestnut, berry and truffle aromas. Full-bodied and very concentrated, with velvety tannins and lots of mushroom and earth flavors. Slightly dry. 1982 Bordeaux horizontal. (JS) (11/1998)
