Description

A pair of this well reputed property from a famous vintage.
Their 40 hectares are planted with 50% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
Vinified in the most traditional and well proven manner and aged in oak barrels.

Although the labels have suffered in a damp Dorset cellar, this has contributed to maintaining excellent levels on these 35 year olds.
Both are into the neck and the embossed capsules are in very good order.

Juste à point, et excellent. Assez soyeux, bien pourpre de robe, minéral, corsé, épicé ; pas très complexe, mais bonne présence fine et veloutée... Excellent !

On the nose a really mature wine, but on the palate very much alive and kicking, very smooth, but neither complex nor multilayered. No sign of dried fruit and still rather dark.

An amazing surprise. I found this on the "Time to Drink Up" list a while back and just got around to it. It opened with a beautiful, soft but full nose and drank like velvet. Still had fruit and of course, no tanins. I thought I was opening it to taste and toss it out... We ended up drinking it over the afternoon with some other wines (1995 Beaucastel CDP and a Puilly Fuisse) and it was really good. Great treat.
