Description

Two bottles of 1983 claret:-

1 bottle of 1983 Leoville Las Cases. (St.Julien).
1 bottle of 1983 Lynch Bages. (Pauillac).

"The fully mature 1983 Leoville Las Cases possessed a deep ruby color with no signs of lightening. An open-knit,smoky,cassis-and-cedary-scented nose was followed by a supple, rich, medium to full bodied wine with excellent definition, outstanding ripeness and concentration, and a spicy,soft,velvety-textured finish.Drink this wine over the next 12-15+ years".
(91 Points).

"A success for this very good, yet surprisingly inconsistent vintage, the Lynch-Bages 1983 is a full-blown,big,ripe,gutsy Pauillac, with an intense bouquet of ground beef and black currant fruit and deep, rich, briery flavors.Quite full-bodied,alcoholic and long, this substantial wine has a heady, alcoholic finish with the tannins quickly melting away".
(88 Points).

Robert Parker. (Bordeaux. A Comprehensive Guide. Third Edition).
