Description

A really clean bottle. Level is at Base of Neck, normal for age, the label is crispy clean as is the embossed capsule.

12/14/2018 - DEREK DARTH TASTER WROTE: 92 Points
Friday high tea at UE Straits. Aired in bottle for 1 hour and then consumed over the next hour. Appearance is clear, medium intensity, ruby colour with wide garnet rim. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of tobacco ash, roasted bell peppers, leather, vegetal earth, red flowers. Chinese herbs and chicken essence with more air. Developed. On the palate, dry, bright high acidity, medium alcohol (no alcohol indication on label), melt-in-your-mouth tannisn, medium+ body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of tobacco cigar ash, roasted herbal bell peppers, leather, dried leafy earth, blackberry after-thoughts. Sour cherry and plums with more air. Medium+ finish.
Very good quality. Classic aged Left Bank. Lovely nose, I kept sticking my nose in and inhaling. Refined elegant style, though herbaceousness pushing the comfort limit already. Time to drink up and enjoy.

Consumed at a restaurant, so no formal notes taken. However this wine was quite lovely… The aromas were absolutely beguiling, smells of a wonderful mature, peaking Bordeaux. The palate was soft and round, offering nice aged fruit flavors and some drying tannins. Those fine-grained drying tannins linger fairly heavily on the finish which is probably the weakest part of the wine. The nose is most certainly the best part and I could smell this wine all night long. I wish that followed through, though it is still very enjoyable elsewhere.
