A two bottle lot of the great Chateau Latour 1989:-

"The wine produced at Latour has been an impeccable and classic model of consistent excellence,both in great,mediocre,and poor vintages.For that reason,many have long considered Latour to be the Medoc's finest wine".

This is so decadent and exciting on the nose,with very ripe fruit,tobacco,meat,and cedar.Full-bodied,offering amazing raspberry fruit on the core of the palate.Ultrapolished,velvety tannins wonderfully coat every inch of the palate.This will age for years ahead,but it's lovely now.Much better than many people think.

The wine's depth and colour at this stage could well be imagined;its nose developing very good fruit and flesh,as did the palate.Full-bodied with 100% new oak providing a very spicy aftertaste.Most recently:fabulous cedar and Cabernet aroma;lovely fruit and components.Rarely the easiest of red Bordeaux to get to grips with at an early stage,it holds great promise. Drink:2005-2030. (*****) Last tasted November 1990.
