Description

TWO lots of TWO bottles.
All four are in P E R F E C T condition.

The 28.3 hectare Barsac vineyard is planted to 100% Semillon grapes . On average, the vines are 35 years of age. At one time, there was a minor amount of Muscadelle planted. However, after the Lurton family purchased the estate in 1972, those vines were removed. The terroir is extremely chalky and filled with limestone, sand and clay soils. This is a perfect fit for the Semillon grape. The vineyard is planted to a vine density of 6,600 vines per hectare.

Bottle prices in Britain of this wine are between £76 and¨£95 (incl VAT).

Wine Journal Jul 2009 Neal Martin 97 Drink 2009 - 2040
Tasted at Chateau Climens. This has a slightly deeper hue than the 1990. The nose is even more defined than the 1990 with quince, barley sugar, dried apricot and a touch of Clementine. The palate is medium-bodied, a great sense of tension and vibrancy, taut, focused with a compelling citrus/white peach, viscous finish that leaves the tongue revivified and ready for another drop. This is unequivocally a superlative Climens that on this occasions just pips the stunning 1990. Classic – immortal! Drink now-2040+ Tasted April 2009.
