Description

A pair of bottles from the excellent '89 vintage.

Both have stained labels from the damp cellar they previously inhabited near Lewes. The levels are good and commensurate with age - Base of Neck and In Neck. The embossed capsules are pristine.

Michael Broadbent
"An extraordinary year and some astonishing wines made. Because of the intense summer heat the grapes ripened precociously with too much natural sugar and too little acidity. To forestall these problems the grapes were picked in August and early September".

La Louvière is a beautiful estate owned and run since 1965 by the ubiquitous Lurton family. The 10 hectares of white vines are composed of 70% sauvignon blanc and 30% Semillon.

Such is it's reputation that many, including many Bordelais, automatically assume La Louvière to be a classified growth.
It is not - but it should be.
