Description

Two bottles from this well respected estate in an excellent vintage.

Both have levels at 'base of neck', have good embossed capsules. The labels are complete but at some stage a previous owner has sellotaped the tops and bottoms of each. The idiot, had he not heard of glue?
Anyway this does not affect the wine in any way, but annoying...

9/11/2015 - BSA LIKES THIS WINE: 90 Points
PNP: Cassis and leather. Quite dense. Fresh acidity with marked tannins. Juicy and youthful. Long. Felt this should be cellared another 4-5 years. Day 2: Left overnight, it had opened up somewhat. Still plenty of cassis, but more earthy/banyard notes. Tannins still some flexing towards the finish. More velvety. Would still recommend cellaring to catch further upside, although this will never be up there of course. A nice, reliable claret that I think will pair well with beef.

Tasted blind. Thought it was a 1990 BDX. Very good. Fennel seed on the nose. Needs a few more years.

K&L Old and Rare Wines Blind Tasting (K&L, San Francisco): Ruby with little bricking; red fruit, complex, spicy, green bell pepper, middle aged; full bodied, approachable tannins, good depth of fruit; medium finish. 90s mid tier Bordeaux, classified growth? 92
Upon reveal: Again, another strong showing for Lanessan. Drank way above its reputation and priced well for aged Bordeaux at $70.
