Description

Pibran is a very old estate of just 9 hectares.
It is to be found going towards Pontet-Canet and Mouton Rothschild. Other neighbours include Lynch Bages and Batailley - a handy bunch...

Planted with 60% Cabernet-Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 6% Petit Verdot. Oak aged.

In more recent times Pibran was bought by the French insurance giant AXA who also own Pichon Paron, Suduiraut & Petit-Village.

Both bottles are directly from the original wooden case and are in perfect condition.

Very suprised by this wine. That classic pailliac noise did not appear for an hour but this lead pencil ish quality now underpins a load of plumy fruit a 15 to 20 second finish. It's just a very delicious well made wine that I'm estatic I acquired. I'll search for more.

From Bill's perfect, cool cellar. Plum fruit and cedar, well balanced with mature notes but am VERY surprised about the age. Own some 05's which probably won't live this long. Heck, neither will I.

Wow, lucked into 2 bottles of this! This bottle is absolutely holding its own, extremely fresh, it must have been cellared very well. I hate to say it but it is beating out a recent bottle of 1990 Haut Brion right now. The cedar, oak, plum and strawberry are knitted up tightly on the attack and tumble out one by one as the 20 second finish evolves. A lingering plum sauce stays on the back of my teeth. Better than all that is the nose, aggressively meaty, beef jerky, faint cinnamon, raw almonds and sour cherries. Can't wait to try with gruyere.

Baked plum and stone fruit- white pepper and leather on nose. lovely mouth feel. well integrated! still lovely. Drink any others within a year.
