Description

The first vintage of Dujac's Beaumonts, this is an incredibly rare wine. Dujac had just started making wine from a 0.25 ha plot, so only 50/60 cases would have been produced.

I tasted this wine in November 2008, and my TN was:

Medium ruby, touched with garnet, though not decanted cleanly. A lovely mature Burgundy nose - tranquil, spicy and earthy. Full, meaty and rosehippy. Round and supple. Lovely. ****

Neal Martin (e-RobertParker) was (I think) more put off by the sediment:

I was not as taken with this Beaumonts as others. It is a little cloudy in the glass, touches of tomato vine, chalk dust, strawberry coulis and freshly rolled tobacco. The palate is quite powerful with firm, sappy tannins, but lacks clarity and precision with a brawny, almost rustic finish. It seems to be trying to hard to impress. Good but not great. Drink now-2012. 88 pts
