Description

The lot consists of three bottles of Australian wine:-

1 bottle of 1990 Penfolds Ralph's Shiraz.(Coonawarra).A tribute to the late Ralph Steadman.
1 bottle of 1991 Wynns John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon.(Coonawarra).
1 bottle of 1991 Hardys E & E Black Black Pepper Shiraz.(Barossa Valley).

These wines were produced before Robert Parker acquired his major interest in Australian wines,so I can only quote what it says on the back of the bottles to give you an indication of the quality of the wines.

Ralph's Shiraz 1990...Ralph Steadman is mature and full-bodied,with a cutting edge and does not travel well,unlike Ralph's Shiraz 1990,an exemplary Coonawarra Shiraz,matured in new American oak for 18 months and named in Ralph's honour.It is a richly flavoured wine,with sweet,mulberry fruit nuances,velvety tannins and a spicy aftertaste.

Wynns John Riddoch 1991...This exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon has been released to commemorate John Riddoch's foresight in establishing the district in Coonawarra.100% Cabernet Sauvignon grown at our estate.A big full wine that has benefited from 24 months in wood,a superb blend of aromas and flavours in the classic style.

E & E Black Pepper Shiraz 1991...These north-eastern Barossa Valley vineyards yield as little as 125 tonnes per acre of fruit,full of concentrated flavour.The 1991 vintage was a very warm season,resulting in wines of rich,full flavour.The colour is striking - a vibrant,rich,deep,strong red.The nose captures the strength of the powerful fruit,combined with American oak,resulting in an aroma of great complexity,strength and balance.The palate shows softness,but is powerful,with great complex fruit and oak flavours.The wine exhibits extreme depth and intensity of flavour and with careful cool cellaring will improve over 15 to 20 years into a classic Australian Shiraz of the distinctive Barossa style.
