The Wine Spectator considered the 1993 L'Apparita to be the best wine coming out of Tuscany that year and thought it on a par with Chateau Petrus:-

"Powerful and exotic,this is the wine of the year from Tuscany.An outstanding Merlot displaying masses of currant and berry,hints of spice,it's full-bodied,with loads of velvety tannins and a long,long finish.Gives Chateau Petrus a run for its money.Best after 2000. 1,000 cases made".
