Two recent tasting notes from CellarTracker:-

"Good youthful colour.Furniture polish,leather books,fresh cigars,and dark cherry nose.The palate is polished,soft blackcurrant fruit,layered,rich.Excellent,didn't expect much given vintage and the far from perfect storage conditions in a wine rack in my mother's utility room".

"The '93 Chateau Giscours opened up beautifully after decanting for 30 minutes...the nose brought forward lots of red fruit,namely strawberry and cherry and this was augmented with earthy notes such as wet leaves.The taste was spectacular...currant,cherry,and a slight hint of chocolate...should drink well for 10 years...Score 93".

For what they are worth,although he has not tasted this wine since 1994,Robert Parker's tasting notes were as follows:-

"The 1993's plump,corpulent style is typical for Giscours.Possessing more fat than most wines of the vintage,this chunky,straightforward,mouth-filling claret reveals moderate tannin as well as fine ripeness,body,and fruit.Last tasted November 1994".
