Description

Although Chateau Palmer was classified as a Third Growth in the official Bordeaux classification in 1855,because of the consistent high quality of its wine,it is now considered by the wine cognoscenti to be a "Supersecond",just behind the First Growths in quality.

"This is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 47% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot, 1% Cabernet Franc. A moderately deep intensity. An elegant, toffee and perfume nose. Sweet, rounded and voluptuous palate. Lovely extract and an exotic character on the palate, with a precise balance showing through into the finish. This is a fabulous wine which has real potential".
(17.5+/20 Points).

Chris Kissack. (Winedoctor. July 2004).

"Palmer's 1994 is a successful wine for the vintage. The large Merlot component gives the wine a silky texture, and an up-front, sweet, black-cherry and plum-scented nose with toasty oak and floral scents. Medium-bodied, round, and nicely concentrated, this charming, elegant wine is well-proportioned and harmonious. Neither acidity, tannin, nor alcohol stand out in this well-balanced 1994".

Robert Parker. (The Wine Advocate).

"Medium color. Somewhat high-toned black cherry nose is currently dominated by lead pencil and cedar. Gentle and flavorful; has alluring perfume and sweetness in the mouth but less fat than the '95. Ripe, persistent on the finish. A very pretty Palmer".

Stephen Tanzer. (May 1996).

"Exuberant aromas of new wood, chocolate and tobacco. Medium- to full-bodied, yet wonderfully refined with cedar, tobacco, cherry and berry flavors. Really a joy to taste".

James Suckling. (The Wine Spectator. January 1997).

The most recent tasting note on Cellartracker on the 1994 Chateau Palmer:-

"Just in a really great spot right now. Dare I say peak or just slightly on the downward slope? Tobacco, tar, sous bois, and dill frame a medium bodied wine with silky tannins and a decent streak of acidity. Very lovely, long finish. Drink up".

TASTARK. (Cellartracker. 11/11/2017).
