Description

This wine was recently selected by Jorge Muga as one of their showpiece wines at the Muga Spanish dinner,held in June at the Hispania Restaurant in Lombard Street,London.Its cepage is 80% Tempranillo,with the balance made up of Garnacha,Maziolo and Graciano.It is aged for one year in large oak barrels,followed by 3 years in new French oak barrels,followed by 3 years in bottle before release.


In his most recent review of older Riojas,Jay Miller awarded this wine with 93 Points. (eRobertParker June 2010).


In Robert Parker's book "Parker's Wine Buyer's Guide.Sixth Edition",he names Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva as a ***** (outstanding) Bodegas.
He describes the 1994 vintage in Spain:-

"Spanish wine producers have pronounced 1994 as Spain's vintage of the century.It was one of the hottest years on record and,unlike France,Spain was not troubled by September rain.From bottle,the top wines are indeed impressive,especially those from Priorato,Rioja,and Ribera del Duero".
