Description

The lot consists of three bottles of claret from the excellent Bordeaux 1995 vintage:-

One bottle of 1995 Chateau La Lagune (Haut-Medoc).
Two bottles of 1995 Chateau Lilian Ladouys (St.Estephe).

Tasting notes on the 1995 La Lagune:-

"Good definition and vigor. A supple, cohesive palate with bright perky black fruits. Vigorous but it needs time to calm down. Very pure on the finish. Excellent. Tasted April 2005".
(90-92 Points).

Neal Martin. (RobertParker.com April 2005).

"Saturated red-ruby color. Redcurrant, tobacco, smoked nuts and oak spice on the nose; less lively than the '96. Sweet entry, then firm and rather withdrawn. Gives an impression of higher acidity and less ripeness than the '96 but grew suppler and sweeter with aeration. Still, the tannins here are a bit more obtrusive. Finishes with notes of black cherry and herbs".
(89 Points).

Stephen Tanzer. (Vinous. May 1998).

Tasting notes on the 1995 Lilian Ladouys:-

"Of all the wines I've tried recently,I think this one represents the best bang for my buck.
Perhaps I got lucky with this bottle of 1995. At £28 from The Sampler in Islington, London,I thought it was the pick of the bunch that I've bought recently.
They don't appear to have it any more. I can see why it sold out so fast. This site says they have it for £25 a bottle.
It's a classic aged, top value Saint-Estephe. Big,minerally, but perfectly aged. The bottle I had was at its peak.
Saint-Estephe wines are not for the faint-hearted,though this one is not as bold and mineral as a Pez,for example. But if you like your Bordeaux with some character, this is a steal if you can find it".

Chris Kissack. (The Wine Doctor. November 2012).

These bottles were bought on release and have since been stored in a purpose-built,temperature-controlled cellar.
They are in very good condition, with wine fills into neck and labels and capsules in an excellent state. There are some tiny bits of red paint missing on the side of the capsule.
