FOR SALE: ONE BOTTLE OF 1996 CHATEAU LATOUR GCC PAUILLAC

Being sold in excellent condition, with the bottles label, capsule and cork - and level - all in excellent condition. The level is also perfectly acceptable too. You will note the bottle is wrapped in clingfilm. I received the bottle like this and simply kept the wrapping on. It serves no purpose other than to protect the label.

The 1996 Latour is a huge wine, with decades of life ahead of it. It has been exceptionally well received and has acquired superb scores and commentary from the wine community:


A spectacular Latour, the 1996 may be the modern day clone of the 1966, only riper. This vintage, which is so variable in Pomerol, St.-Emilion, and Graves, was fabulous for the late-harvested Cabernet Sauvignon of the northern Medoc because of splendid weather in late September and early October. An opaque purple color is followed by phenomenally sweet, pure aromas of cassis infused with subtle minerals. This massive offering possesses unreal levels of extract, full body, intensely ripe, but abundant tannin, and a finish that lasts for nearly a minute. Classic and dense, it displays the potential for 50-75 years of longevity. Although still an infant, it would be educational to taste a bottle. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2050.

Currently, a bottle of 1996 Latour would cost one from £500-£750 - excluding vat/duty. The reserve I have set - which of course includes vat/duty is extremely generous and fair.
