Wine Advocate #122 Apr 1999 Robert Parker 88

"This wine is as fine from bottle as it was from cask. The wine is deeply colored, with a ripe, cassis and blackberry-scented nose, with subtle notions of licorice and melted road tar. There is excellent richness, medium body, and moderate tannin in the jammy, rich finish. It should age nicely. This wine is a sleeper of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2015".

" A sleeper of the vintage, d'Angludet's 1996 reveals an opaque purple color, as well as a powerful, rich, black currant-scented nose with cedar, weedy tobacco, licorice, and earth in the background. Dense, backward, and atypically powerful and unevolved for a wine from this well-run chateau, this boldly made, tannic, yet impressively endowed wine will have a long lifeline. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2015".
