Description

Chateau Cos d’Estournel has a long and distinguished history as a Bordeaux wine property in the St. Estephe appellation that is as interesting as the estate’s unique architecture. Thanks to M. Gaspard d’Estournel, which is who the estate was named after, founded Chateau Cos d’Estournel in 1811. It did not take more than a few years before this special Cos d’Estournel became famous with wine lovers and royalty all over the world.

International Wine Cellar | Rating: 89-90
Very good ruby-red. Complex, expressive aromas of cassis, black cherry, liquorice and animal fur. Supple but with good vinosity; ripe acids are in harmony with the wine fruit. Finishes with mouth coating tannins and a peppery note. The top wine of St. Estephe in '97 based on my tastings this spring.

Serious concentration of fruit in this wine, with plenty of chocolate and berry character and a hint of dried herbs on the nose. Full- to medium-bodied, with plenty of fruit and a velvety texture.
