Description

Both the cuvees of 1997 Shiraz taste as though they came from a great vintage. The opaque purple-colored 1997 Shiraz Seven Acre vineyard offers a knock-out nose of cassis liqueur intertwined with cherries and licorice, great intensity and purity, huge body, and layers of glycerin that coat the palate. The wine's low acidity and gorgeous fruit make it irresistible now,but it will develop more complexity over the next 7-8 years, and drink well for two decades.

The two most recent CellarTracker wine tasting notes on this wine:-

"Well balanced, rounded, with gentle spices, earthy, and a little tar.In fantastic shape for almost 14 years old.Being held together with clean acidity.Really good drink at the moment.Moved one taster to declare this the best 1997 Barossa Shiraz he's had.Drink up and enjoy"
(93 Points).

TJA. (CellarTracker. 29/1/2011).

"Outstanding bottle - lovely dark fruit, leather, spice, good acid, and round tannins, with a medium+ body and a silky texture, all elements are in perfect harmony. It opened up nicely after an hour+ in the decanter - the fruit, which was subdued to start, shone through nicely, and transformed this into a quite delicious Shiraz! Greenock Creek is without doubt on of my favourite Aussie producers.Buy,buy,buy..!".
(94 Points).
