This 1997 "La Grande Cote" wine was showcased as one of the premier wines from the Cotat Domaine at a dinner held on 25 March 2011 by Berry Brothers in tribute to Francois Cotat and his wines:-

"There is Sancerre and there are the wines of Francois Cotat! Forget identikit Sauvignon Blanc,this is a must for lovers of truly great wine;wines that speak more of their soil and particularly of their owner,than their grape.Francois Cotat epitomises the essence and nobility of his wines,born of stunning vineyards at the heart of Chavignol,Sancerre's finest".

The last tasting note of this wine on CellarTacker was as follows:-

"This wine is such an aberration that you have to judge it without context of varietal or region.Nine seasoned and analytical tasters and no-one even mentioned Sauvignon Blanc,although several were focusing on the Loire,and certainly,none of them guessed that this wine was over 10 years old.It is now a rich,tropical fruit-dominated wine,with excellent depth.It has shed most of the zesty framework that made it so delightful when it was younger,evolving into a very unctuous texture,but not at all flabby.It has held together beautifully.This is such a special Domaine".
