Description

The best cru Barolo from a top producer in a great year. It's just entering its plateau of maturity too.

These bottles have just been taken out of storage and are in pefect condition, with levels well into the neck.

Only other bottle in the UK is a double mag at £500. Most other equivalent vintages in the UK are over £150 per bottle.

"I was blown away by the supreme elegance of the 1998 Rocche dell’Annunziata. It presents the characteristic open, perfumed nose so typical of Rocche, along with a lovely core of sweet cherry fruit on a medium-bodied frame with outstanding length and fine, silky tannins. Some of the baby fat has melted away and the oak has begun to integrate, signaling that this wine has started to enter its early maturity although it remains quite youthful and packed with plenty of vibrant fruit. It is a great choice for drinking now and over the next ten to or so years. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2018."

An exquisite combination of black fruits, coffee, smoke, new oak, licorice, and incense is found in this medium to full-bodied, ripe, elegant, pure Barolo. Explosive aromatics are followed by equally riveting flavors as well as a 50-second finish. The tannin is sweet and beautifully integrated. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2018.
