Description

Unexpectedly re-offered...Yes, not everyone is an honest bidder, I've just met one...

This bottle has a good high level.
The label is as per photos - some surface damage as per photo but nothing dramatic. A good clean capsule.

Neal Martin reports:

The 1999 d'Issan has a perfumed bouquet with wilted violet petals infusing the redcurrant and cranberry scents. It is strict but detailed even if not the most complex bouquet you will encounter in this vintage. The palate is medium-bodied with a pleasant and supple opening. A mixture of red and black fruit here laced with tobacco, graphite and sous-bois, the 1999 has a linearity that appeals at 19-years of age. It finishes in convincing style considering the growing season. I suspect that it will not improve with further bottle age but should hold steady for another decade. Tasted at the d’Issan vertical held at the property. Neal Martin (7/2018)

Rustic and firm in style, this is now fully mature. Classic in style, the edges can be a bit rough, but there is plenty of cool vintage fruit and tobacco to make this quite nice for near term drinking.

This is drinking very well right now. Elegant, with precision. Perfumed bouquet of dried flowers, violet, cassis, rose petal, with some gamey characters developing. Tannin is well integrated, with medium plus acidity. Black fruits, forest floor, soil tone, gravel. No excess weight or fat. Oak completely dissolved. This is to me screaming d'Issan. Margaux purists would enjoy this tremendously. No reason to wait.
