While the 1999 performed better than the 1998, it remains firm and closed, offering plenty of sweet kirsch and blackberry fruit, licorice, spice, and floral aromas. Structured, medium to full-bodied, and moderately tannic, it should be at its finest between 2006-2020. Score: 94

On the fresh, bright, crisp and floral side, the cherries are still sweet, crisp, floral and elegant. The finish offers an elegant, bright, kirsch filled note. Not the deepest or more concentrated wine from the estate, but it is among the more refined and charming vintages produced here.

6/4/2018 - MISTRESS OF WINE WROTE:
Light ruby. This leads with high toned aromas of red fruit and orange peel, with undertones of game, mushroom, leather and spice. The palate adds a surprising late note of mint. A delicate style of Chateauneuf in an overlooked vintage. To my taste, drinking at peak right now.
