Description

From James Halliday:

Not, as the label might half suggest, a single vineyard or estate wine in the classic sense of that term, but rather a blend of 65 per cent Shiraz, 30 per cent Cabernet Sauvignon and 5 per cent Malbec grown in the Eden and Barossa Valleys. It is made in the traditional Henschke fashion in open fermenters, and matured in new and used American and French oak for 12 months. It may not be the greatest of the Henschke red wines, but frequently offers the best value for money.

Bright red-purple, holding its hue well; excellent colour seems to be a continuing feature of this wine, year-in, year-out. The nicely balanced bouquet brings together black cherry, plum, spice and subtle oak, the palate flowing effortlessly through to the finish, with good weight, texture and mouthfeel. Arguably the best value of all of the Henschke range. (drink 2004-2011) 92 points
