'The complex ripe fruit characters are somewhat latent in the aroma but the power of the fruit is very evident in the flavour. The fruit is less of cassis and more of ripe plums and blackberry and is tightly woven in with the clove, cinnamon and concentrated stock characters of the oak and tannins. 1999 Petaluma Coonawarra is a highly structured, integrated wine with long ageing potential. The best Cabernet Sauvignon wines are usually the product of warm to hot vintages in cool locations and 1999 Petaluma Coonawarra answers this description. 1999 Petaluma Coonawarra was matured in new Alliers and Nevers oak for 18 months prior to bottling without filtration.'
