Description

Rivetti's blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Nebbiolo,the 1999 Monferrato Rosso Pin,is an exotic,ripe,luxuriously intense effort,displaying extravagent flavors that border on excess.It is voluptuously textured with terrific aromas of red and black fruits,smoke and new oak.While there is a tendency to think of this as an internationally styled offering,Nebbiolo gives the wine a finesse and complexity not found in new breed wines.Its texture,richness,and thickness are a total turn-on.Who knows how it will age,but certainly it is impossible to resist at present.My instincts suggest drinking it over the next 5-6 years,but it may be uncommonly long lived. (95 Points).

I have not tasted the blend of Nebbiolo and Cab Sauv before and boy,what an experience! I have reduced my sale from 3 to 2 bottles,because of the great future potential(in my opinion) of this wine and the few bottles I have left.I opened the bottle at least three hours in advance,but the wine still seemed to increase in complexity with more aeration.
Still a deep crimson colour,a nose of blackcurrants,cigar box,cedar and spice.On the palate,not as flamboyant as "Our Bob" experienced,the new oak seemed more integrated,but a beautiful balance of deep black fruits,nutmeg,acidity and powdery tannins.Rich,superb texture,elegance and a subtlety and finesse that New World wines find very difficult to compete with.Clearly,the Cabernet Sauvignon gives it the power and depth of fruit and the Nebbiolo the added complexity.This is a unique tasting experience and even though it is currently drinking brilliantly I still believe the wine has a 15 years+ future.
