Description

2 Different Margaux Chateau and Different years 1995 and 2001 to try
side by side:

Chateau Dauzac 1995

I have recently drunk a case of 1995 and 1996 Dauzac both of which i really enjoyed. I am selling this as i need to make some room in my cellar. Opened the OWC today to take the photos.

92 points Wine Spectator
Best Dauzac ever. Attractive berry and violet aromas follow through on the palate. Medium- to full-bodied, with racy tannins and a long, floral aftertaste. Very pretty indeed. (1/1998)

Chateau Dufort Vivens 2001 - 2eme Cru Classe

Gonzague Lurton, current president of the Margaux producers, has invested considerably in pushing this estate forward. The wine has rich, open, generous fruit, with soft but firmly present tannins and juicy flavors. Combined with a subtle used of new wood, this shows well, and will develop well over many years. WE 92 Points

10/14/2016 - COLLECTOR1855 WROTE: 91 Points
During a Commanderie de Bordeaux bin end event. A surprise of the evening. This under performing Chateau with its diluted and often borderline ripe wines came out well for once. Very nice nose of dark fruit, pine, a touch of oak. Lighter palate with softened tannins. Good food wine. Drink up.

10/12/2016 - COFXC LIKES THIS WINE: 89 Points
High acidity nose with earth, blackberry, touch of salty minerality, menthol. Good acidity on the palette. A bit of fullness of fruit on the mid palette. Nice bite of fine tannins. Classic claret.

9/11/2016 - ENGLISHMAN'S CLARET WROTE: 92 Points
I liked this a lot, but it really needed to be kept at proper claret drinking temperature. Too hot, and it was thin with dominant pencil lead notes. But in the mid-60s, it was a beautiful Margaux full of plum, cedar, violet, and pencil notes. Looking back at other tasting notes, I don't know what people were doing drinking this at under 10-12 years of age; it's hardly a good idea with 2nd growths even if they are under-performing relative to their status.
