Description

4 bottles in pristine condition of this very highly regarded wine.

I had a top London restaurant interested in thse bottles but needed more than the 4 available.

Fourth Growth. Quatrieme Grand Cru Classe in 1855

Beychevelle's 85 hectares of vineyards are located in the far south of the St-Julien appellation. It is matured in oak barrels (50-60% new) for 18 months. It is renowned for its suppleness, smoothness and its rich, and sometimes chocolatey character.

91 / 100 - Robert Parker
Deep ruby/purple in color, with a sweet nose of black currants, earth, licorice, and mineral, the 2000 is relatively powerful and dense for the normally restrained and elegant Beychevelle. Medium to full-bodied, dense, and chewy, it is showing even better out of bottle than it was from cask. While it appears to be the finest example made at Beychevelle since the 1989 and 1982, patience will be required. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2020. Robert Parker, Wine Advocate # 146

92 / 100 - Wine Spectator
Wonderful floral and blackberry aromas follow through to a compressed palate of full-bodied tannins and ripe fruit. Yet very fine and silky on the palate. Best Beychevelle I have had in years. Best after 2009. 2,200 cases made. James Suckling,Wine Spectator 2003.
