Description

In 2001 Clos de L'Hermitage changed the design and colour on its label and capsule.The two similar bottles above have the new design and the other single bottle the old design.However,the wine within these three bottles should all be the same "unbelievable stuff" (RP quote.See below) produced by this domaine in an outstanding vintage for the southern Rhone:-

"From a vineyard owned by Formula One Race Driver Jean Alesi,the spectacular 2001 Clos de L'Hermitage is a blend of equal parts Syrah,Grenache,and Mourvedre,aged in small casks,25% of which are new.This is unbelievable stuff.Tasted blind,I would have thought this was a top class Chateauneuf du Pape.An inky/purple color is accompanied by an extraordinary perfume of scorched earth,blackberries,blueberries,and melted licorice.With tremendous texture,full-body,fabulous,sweet,glycerin-imbued fruit flavors,and a lusty,heady finish.It ranks among the most profound Cotes-du-Rhones I have tasted.Amazing!".
