Description

"This is a taut and minerally version, with lavender, iron and olive paste notes holding sway over racy cherry and cassis fruit.Floral notes weave through the finish, where a jolt of acidity takes over.Sinewy now,so let it flesh out in the cellar;it'll be a beauty".
(94 Points).

James Molesworth. (The Wine Spectator. August 2004).

"The 2001 Cote Rotie La Landonne reveals a roasted espresso character along with licorice, pepper, scorched earth, and dense blackberry and cassis fruit.Firm, tannic, and masculine as well as aromatic (a character of this cool vintage),it requires another 2-3 years of cellaring, after which it should last 7-8 years.
Rene rostaing is one of the most masterful growers and bottlers of Cote Rotie.Sadly, there is not much produced".
(90-93 Points).

Robert Parker. (The Wine Advocate. June 2003).

The last two tasting notes on CellarTracker:-

"This has really come around over the years, blossoming from a well-made but shy young wine into a sleekly beautiful Cote Rotie. It has a beautifully rich nose, with slightly roasted notes of dark cherries and wild berries infused with dried flowers and garrigue and a toss of dried earth - absolutely lovely stuff that could only have come from the northern Rhone. There was lots going on in the palate, with warm spice enveloping a core of black cherries and dark berries and a hint of olive tapenade, all this cut by fine tannins and good acidity.I did not think there was the greatest depth here, but there still was a very nice sense of substance wed to a lovely clarity. And even though there was a little flush of alcohol at the sides, the wine was always freshly balanced enough to make it drinkable and delicious.Neat little finish too, with a kiss of herb and coffee grounds.Starting to drink well now and really quite delicious.I liked it".
(93 Points).

CellarTracker. (8/3/2015).

"Popped and poured,my last 2001 and this one was as good as it gets.No sign of fading within the next few years, but can't imagine this drinking any better.Terrific nose of meat, blood, spice, and tar.Wonderful weight and classic elegance.Burgundian!".
(95 Points).

CellarTracker. (22/3/2015).
